Frequently asked questions
How is the Oman Property Index measured?
From live listings published by Omani brokers whose websites permit automated reading. For each area we take the median asking price per sqft of apartments for sale, adjust it about 8% toward achieved prices, report the middle half of listings as the normal range, and measure gross rental yield from rent listings in the same area.
Can I use these figures in an article or report?
Yes. Please cite "Oman Property Index (omanpropertyindex.com)" with the month shown, and link to this page or the area page. The full table is also available as a CSV download.
Why don't you publish official transaction prices?
Oman does not publish sale prices per property. The Ministry of Housing releases transaction counts and NCSI a quarterly national price index, which we report separately. Area-level prices therefore have to be measured from listings, which is what this index does.
